Ezra Klein: Why Are Palantir and OpenAI Scared of Alex Bores?

  • Alex Bores, former employee of Palantir, now a member of the New York state Assembly, a sponsor of the RAISE act: Responsible AI Safety and Education Act. One of the most effective legislators in the Assembly. RAISE is one of the first pieces of AI legislation.

  • Alex Bores, attacked by Superpac Leading the Future and its Subsidiary Think Big, funded by tech companies including Andreesen Horowitz and Palantir. Mission of this Superpac is to destroy political candidates and politician who support regulation of the tech industry in general and AI in particular in ways that they (founders Jon Lonsdale (Palantir), Mark Andreesen (Andreesen Horowitz), etc) don’t like.

  • Important principle at stake here: It is important that the democratic process remain more powerful than companies (suprisingly, a quote of Same Altman).
